Accessibility Statement

TuneFreq's commitment to accessibility and inclusive design.

Our Commitment

TuneFreq is committed to ensuring digital accessibility to all people with disabilities. We strive to meet or exceed Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards and work continuously to improve the accessible user experience.

We believe that accessibility is not an afterthought—it's essential to creating a platform where everyone can participate in music, whether as a listener or an artist.

Standards & Compliance

WCAG 2.1 Level AA: We aim to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. This includes:

  • Sufficient color contrast (4.5:1 on normal text)
  • Resizable text (up to 200% without loss of content)
  • Alternative text on images
  • Descriptive headings and structure
  • Form labels and error messages
  • Keyboard accessible functionality

Section 508 (US): We also aim to comply with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (US accessibility requirements).

Accessibility Features

Responsive Design: TuneFreq works on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. PWA support allows installation like a native app.

Audio Controls: The player includes standard HTML5 controls accessible via keyboard and screen reader.

Focus Indicators: Visible focus outlines help keyboard users navigate the site.

Language: The site uses clear, simple language. We avoid jargon where possible and explain technical terms.

Minimize Distractions: We avoid auto-playing audio/video (you control playback) and minimize animations.

Keyboard Navigation

You can navigate TuneFreq entirely using the keyboard:

  • Tab: Move forward through links and buttons
  • Shift + Tab: Move backward
  • Enter: Activate links and buttons
  • Space: Activate buttons; play/pause audio
  • Arrow Keys: Navigate menus and player controls
  • Escape: Close modals and menus

Screen Reader Support

TuneFreq is compatible with major screen readers:

  • NVDA (free, open-source)
  • JAWS (commercial)
  • VoiceOver (macOS, iOS)
  • Narrator (Windows)
  • TalkBack (Android)

All images have alt text. Form fields have labels. Links have descriptive anchor text (not generic text). Audio tracks include descriptive titles and metadata.

Third-Party Services

We use third-party services by Stripe (payments), Cloudflare R2 (file hosting), and Google Analytics. We choose vendors that prioritize accessibility, but we cannot guarantee 100% accessibility in external services. Contact us if you have trouble with a third-party integration and we'll help you find an alternative path.

Known Issues

We're working on the following accessibility improvements:

  • Additional captions on video content (post-MVP)
  • Expanded keyboard shortcuts (customizable settings coming soon)
  • Higher contrast dark mode option (in development)

Policy & Maintenance

This accessibility statement is reviewed and updated quarterly. We audit the site monthly and fix identified accessibility problems within 30 days when possible.
