Privacy Policy

How we handle your data (the short version: we don't sell it).

What Information We Collect

Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your email address and password (encrypted). If you create an artist profile, we collect your artist handle, display name, bio, and any links you choose to share.

Payment Information: If you purchase music, we collect billing details (name, address) through Stripe. We never store your credit card details—those are handled securely by Stripe.

Artist Payouts: If you're an artist receiving payments, we collect payout information (bank account details via Stripe) to send you money.

Content You Upload: Artists upload music files, album artwork, banners, and stories. We store these to run the platform.

Usage Data: We track what you listen to, what you purchase, and how you navigate the site. This helps us improve TuneFreq and provide analytics to artists.

Cookies: We use essential cookies for authentication (keeping you signed in) and analytics cookies to understand site usage. See our Cookie Policy for details.

How We Use Your Information

To Run the Platform: Your account info lets you sign in, upload music, and purchase downloads. We can't operate without this.

Payments & Payouts: We process purchases and send artists their earnings. This requires billing and payout information.

Communication: We'll email you order confirmations, payout notifications, and important account updates. Artists may receive messages from listeners who purchase their music.

Analytics for Artists: We provide artists with anonymized data about who's listening (country, device type) and purchasing their music. Individual listener identities are not shared.

Platform Improvements: Usage data helps us understand what features people use, what's broken, and where to focus development.

Legal Compliance: We may use or disclose data to comply with legal obligations, prevent fraud, or protect our rights and users' safety.

Who We Share Your Information With

We Do Not Sell Your Data. Period. Your information is not a product.

Service Providers: We use trusted third parties to operate TuneFreq:

  • Stripe: Payment processing (purchases and artist payouts)
  • AWS SES: Email delivery (order confirmations, account notifications)
  • Cloudflare R2: File storage (music, images)
  • Sentry: Error monitoring (to fix bugs)

These providers only access data necessary to perform their services and are contractually obligated to protect it.

Artists: If you send a message to an artist when purchasing their music, they'll see your email address and message. This is intentional—it's a feature, not a bug.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to prevent illegal activity.

Your Rights & Control

Access Your Data: You can view and export your data from your Control Room. Email us at [email protected] if you need help.

Delete Your Account: You can delete your account from the Control Room settings. This permanently removes your personal data. Purchases you've made may be retained for legal/tax purposes (receipts, invoices).

Correct Inaccurate Data: Update your profile, email, and settings anytime from the Control Room.

Opt Out of Marketing: We don't send marketing emails by default. If we ever do (e.g., new feature announcements), you can opt out.

Data Portability: Request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format (JSON). Email [email protected].

GDPR & CCPA Compliance: If you're in the EU or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA. Contact us to exercise these rights.

How We Protect Your Data

Encryption: All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption). Passwords are hashed using industry-standard bcrypt.

Access Controls: Only authorized TuneFreq staff can access user data, and only when necessary (e.g., customer support, debugging).

Regular Audits: We monitor for security vulnerabilities and apply patches promptly.

Breach Notification: If a data breach occurs, we'll notify affected users within 72 hours and take immediate action to secure the platform.

No system is 100% secure, but we take this seriously and continuously improve our security practices.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as TuneFreq evolves. If we make significant changes (e.g., new data collection, new third parties), we'll notify you via email or a prominent site notice.
