Cookie Policy

What cookies we use and why (spoiler: mostly to keep you signed in).

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how you use the site.

TuneFreq uses cookies to provide essential functionality and improve the user experience. We do not use cookies for intrusive tracking or advertising.

Cookies We Use

Essential Cookies (Required)

These cookies are necessary for TuneFreq to function. You cannot disable them without breaking the site.

  • Session Cookie (session_id): Keeps you signed in as you navigate the site. Expires when you sign out or after 30 days of inactivity.
  • CSRF Token (csrf_token): Protects against cross-site request forgery attacks. Required for all form submissions.
  • Cookie Consent (cookie_consent): Remembers your cookie preferences so we don't ask you repeatedly.

Functional Cookies (Optional)

These cookies enhance your experience but are not strictly required. You can opt out via your browser settings.

  • Player State (player_state): Remembers your volume level, playback queue, and whether the radio was playing when you left. Stored in localStorage, not cookies, but serves a similar purpose.
  • Theme Preference (theme): Remembers if you prefer light or dark mode (post-MVP feature).

Analytics Cookies (Optional)

We use minimal analytics to understand how people use TuneFreq and where we can improve. These cookies do not track you across other websites.

  • Analytics (analytics_id): Tracks page views, button clicks, and feature usage. Data is anonymized and aggregated. We use our own analytics system (not Google Analytics) to keep your data private.

Third-Party Cookies

We use minimal third-party services, but they may set their own cookies:

Managing Cookies

Browser Settings

You can control cookies through your browser settings:

  • Block All Cookies: Most browsers let you block all cookies. Note: This will break TuneFreq's sign-in and checkout functionality.
  • Block Third-Party Cookies: This prevents tracking by external services (e.g., Stripe, Cloudflare) but may affect payment processing.
  • Delete Cookies: Clear cookies from your browser history. This will sign you out of TuneFreq.

Browser-specific instructions:

Do Not Track (DNT)

We respect "Do Not Track" browser signals. If your browser sends a DNT signal, we will not collect analytics data. Essential cookies (sign-in, CSRF protection) will still be used, as they're required for the site to function.
